Really? The most wonderful time of the year?

For so many, the Christmas season is not a wonderful time but rather, a dreaded time. Financial stress, sad/painful memories, habitual and excessive family partying/medicating, loneliness, anti-climactic gift openings, gatherings that carry high expectations and pressures. It’s a season that leaves many disappointed and frustrated trying to experience something that even remotely lives up to the hype.

But where does this Christmas hype come from? How many of these idealized expectations have anything to do with the Christmas story? With a closer look at “The story” you find a much different picture than even the one church culture has romanticized.

This Sunday we’re going to offer an important Christmas “reality check” and perhaps a little pressure relief too. Invite a friend who struggles with this season and join us at the gym.
