Speaker: Jeff Jarvis

Is it wrong to say “Oh my God!” when something crazy happens? That’s what I always understood growing up in church. I was taught that this is what the third commandment was addressing when it says: “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain…Exodus 20:7 (The Bible) But is that what it’s really talking about? Personally, I don’t think so. And I think that there are much bigger issues in the world that deserve our energy. This verse does, however, seem to be addressing something…something much more important. On Sunday we’re going to talk about what it could really mean to “take the name of the Lord in vain” and how steering clear of this could be a really good thing for our world.

Once again, a timely talk! I am still working on the compliments without the “but” factor from your sermon a couple of weeks ago. You and Vince always give me something to think about. Every Monday I start looking for your Sunday sermon online. Blessings to you and to Friends Church! From a faithful listener in California! Becky Roy
