In climbing, like in life it seems, there are times when we need to leave the safety of where we are, and commit to something new – often, in climbing at least, it’s a piece of rock that doesn’t look like it will hold our weight.

Spiritually, I think there is a parallel.  There are places in our spiritual journey, from our time in atheism, to theism, to even stage 4 altruism, that demand we leave the safety of what we know, to try something new.

Something that we hope will be better.  But it’s scary isn’t it?

This week, we are going to explore these moments in a number of characters in Luke 4 (in the Bible) to see what wisdom our spiritual ancestors can offer when we are wrestling with our own fears of trying something new in our spiritual journey.
