More Than a Meal: Meat the Need 2026 Brings Full Freezers and Full Hearts

What happens when a community shows up again with open hands and generous hearts? Needs are met, dignity is restored, and lives are strengthened.

Our Meat the Need 2026 – Full Freezers, Full Hearts initiative has now wrapped, and we’re thrilled to share the impact that was made possible through the generosity of our community.

This year, individuals and families were once again nominated from within our own community - people quietly navigating rising food costs where nutritious meat is often one of the first essentials to be reduced or cut entirely from grocery budgets. What began as a simple list of needs quickly became an opportunity for practical, meaningful care.

Over several weeks, donations of meat and financial gifts were gathered through the kindness of the Friends Church community. From thoughtfully selected grocery contributions to cash donations used to purchase high-quality protein on sale, every gift played a part in meeting real needs.

Donations were received, organized, and prepared for distribution. Volunteers then stepped in to sort, pack, and coordinate delivery so that each package could reach nominated individuals and families directly.

In total, Meat the Need 2026 supported families representing 39 individuals in need, each one receiving not just food, but relief, care, and practical support in a challenging season.

But the impact goes beyond what filled the freezers.

It’s seen in the breathing room created for families who were stretched thin. It’s felt in the reassurance that their community sees them and stands with them. And it’s reflected in the simple but powerful act of showing up for one another in tangible ways.

To everyone who donated, shopped, volunteered, delivered, and supported behind the scenes - thank you. This initiative worked because a community chose to come together and take action.
