Speaker: Vince Klassen

I was chatting with someone recently, talking about something we both agreed on (our reaction to the US election), and I suddenly found myself saying, “It won’t be that bad. He might be OK. There’s nothing to worry about.” But I didn’t even believe those things. My friend looked at me like, “What are you saying to me?” And things were a little tense between us for a bit. Why did I feel compelled to tell my friend something I don’t even believe? What was going on there?
There is this idea in psychology that says there are things from our past that are sabotaging our relationships with the people we love – like I did with my friend. The scary thing is these things from our past are almost completely unconscious, so we don’t even know we are doing anything. And yet, when I look at the satisfaction of our relationships from our survey last week, we are not in a great place with the people we love.
This week, we are going to uncover those unconscious behaviors that sabotage our relationships. And do the spiritual work of using that awareness to heal the people we love.
