Garden Clean-Up Brenda Strafford House

Bringing Life to the Garden: A Heartfelt Afternoon at The Brenda Strafford House

On Tuesday, May 13th, a group of dedicated volunteers gathered under grey skies for an afternoon of purpose, connection, and community care at The Brenda Strafford House.

We rolled up our sleeves and got to work—raking, weeding, and tidying up the shelter’s garden. Though the weather was cloudy, the energy on the ground was anything but. Spirits were high as we came together to create a brighter, more welcoming outdoor space for the women and families staying at the shelter.

This event was part of The Brenda Strafford Foundation’s mission to promote wellness, care, and social impact—and it was a true hands-on reflection of those values. No gardening experience was needed—just a willingness to help and a heart for service. Taking water to families in the shelter by sprucing up the garden beds, every small act played a role in making the space feel cared for and full of possibility.

Even without the sunshine, the warmth of the community shone through. It was a reminder that a grey day can't dim the impact of people coming together with compassion and purpose.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped make a difference. Together, we didn’t just clean a garden—we cultivated care, connection, and hope.
