For many, the idea of an afterlife is a foregone conclusion. All their teaching and their upbringing says “there is some place you go after you die.” But that is a later invention. Many of our spiritual ancestors, especially the earliest ones, had a completely different view on what happens after you die. Even Jesus seemed to have a different view of what happens after we die than many in the Christian tradition today.
This week we are going to learn about the history on the concepts of afterlife (and there is more than one). But more than that, we are going to look at how different afterlife concepts solve real world problems for us, right now, today. That’s the exciting part!
