Who are some of the most meaningful people in your life? I’m betting that as you try to answer that question, you will be reminded of past moments spent with certain people that were incredibly happy and/or even moments that were challenging. The people that come to mind were likely the ones who somehow said and did things in those moments that left a deep mark on you and you on them. It’s these people that are often described as our real “community”. What is the state of your present community? Do you wish it was somehow better than it is? Over10_2016.mp3

Spiritual, Not Religious?
Speaker: Tom Morris

If you consult most surveys today and ask about religious affiliation, the number one response is Spiritual not Religious. Being “spiritual” is now the in thing. But what do we mean by spiritual? Is it about belief in something, being tapped into the force? Or is it about a way of being and behaviour? The obvious kick back to that is, belief should affect behaviour, and however, we all know religious folk who “don’t behave”.

So let’s get authentic about this. In order to be authentic we need first to be honest about being inauthentic. So now we are cornered to face into our own in-authenticities. Am I spiritual or is that a label I use to deflect meaningful conversations? Our conversations need to be transformative but here we need to be careful again.

Talking about transformation is no more than a representation, an image of the real thing. It’s like eating the menu instead of the steak – neither nurturing nor profound. It is in being transformed – in being authentically true to oneself – which one lives passionately free, unencumbered, fearless, committed. It is in living life in a transformed way that the steak and its sizzle show up, now that’s a definition of spiritual worthy of a conversation.
