In particular religious circles, there is an underlying belief that it is wrong to masturbate. Why? Besides making you go blind (Haha!), some believed that it actually upsets God and they've used the story of Onan in the bible to prove it. In the story, Onan was killed by God for “spilling his seed” on the ground. There are obviously different ways to look at this story but I don't believe masturbation was what was going on. If you look a little closer – it seems that what upset God was something much more harmful…and common. Even today. I think the story of Onan, as crazy as it is, can offer a warning that is highly relevant to my life and likely yours too. This is part 2 of our Leviticus series. You won't want to miss it.
