Taking Water 2025: Building on Last Year’s Impact

For the second year, Friends Church has played a vital role in supporting the initiative to feed school children at Ushirika School in Kenya through Taking Water. Located in the heart of Africa’s largest slum, Ushirika serves more than 800 vulnerable children, many of whom rely on school meals as their only consistent source of nutrition.

Thanks to the dedication and generosity of our community, funds raised this year are helping provide nutritious meals—meat, fruits, vegetables, and more—that give students the strength to learn, grow, and dream beyond hunger. Every meal makes a difference, fueling minds and opening doors for a brighter future.

Our ongoing partnership with One Girl Can continues to amplify our impact, ensuring that resources reach directly into the school and support both education and opportunity. With more than 120 girls residing in the school’s dormitory, this program touches not only their nutrition but their overall well-being and ability to thrive.

Together, we are making a lasting impact. Each step taken and each drop of water carried is helping transform lives at Ushirika School, empowering children to pursue education with hope and confidence.
