Ushirika School Kenya - Food Program

Taking Water through Friends Church played a vital role in supporting the initiative to feed school children at Ushirika School in Kenya. This school, situated in the heart of Africa's largest slum, serves 806 vulnerable children who often face hunger. The meals provided at Ushirika are often their only source of nutrition, making this support crucial.

Through our water collection efforts, we helped raise awareness and funds for a comprehensive meal plan developed in collaboration with One Girl Can. This program provides nutritious meals—including meat, fruits, and vegetables—ensuring that children can focus on their education instead of their hunger.

Our contributions are part of a larger goal to raise enough funds to expand the food program, doubling last year's budget to provide 14,458 meals and snacks weekly. By participating in this initiative, we are not only addressing immediate nutritional needs but also helping improve school attendance and empowering these children to build a brighter future.

The collaboration with One Girl Can has been instrumental in facilitating this project, connecting us with Ushirika School and guiding our efforts. With over 120 girls residing in the school's dormitory, our support extends beyond meals to education and opportunity. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of these children.
