Speaker: Vince Klassen

In the Bible, there are six sections that speak about homosexuality — they are referred to as the “Clobber Passages”. And that’s how they are often used, to clobber people of same-sex sexuality into submission. Or in line with a tradition. Or into a lifetime of pain and self-hatred.

These biblical Clobber Passages are still thrown around at dinner tables, on social media, and from the front of many churches. And they continue to cause much pain and suffering to our homosexual community.

But how do we respond to these passages? Are they just true and we have to live with them? Or are there other ways to see these passages? Ways that can support a much broader view of homosexuality in the Bible?

Join us this week as we finish our exploration of homosexuality in the Bible. You are welcome regardless of your views on this (as long as you are loving to everyone!:). But know, if you identify as homosexual, and if these verses have been used to make you feel less than in any way, we will give you a valid interpretation of all these passages that will allow you to stand with your head held high, as loved and as cherished as anyone else in the church.
