Speaker: Jeff Jarvis

Experiencing a sense of belonging and connection with others is proving to be very challenging these days, despite how much many are craving it. Science tells us that living in some form of authentic community is critical for our own physical and emotional well-being. And yet, despite the dire consequences of going it alone, growing numbers of people are settling for loneliness and estrangement. Why? Probably there are many reasons. For a lot of people, there’s just too much pressure to conform to someone else’s expectations, opinions, rules, and preferences. This is especially true when it comes to spiritual or religious communities. Sadly, for many, church would be the last place they would go to looking for a community to belong in.

But does it need to be that way? Is it possible to create an enriching spiritual community rich with belonging without demanding conformity? Without requiring everyone to look and believe and act the same way?

Join us this Sunday in person or online as Jeff and Friend Church member, Emily Wight, share their stories and explore this relevant and complicated subject matter along with Friends Church’s different approach to belonging
